Come and Play the Orff Schulwerk Way!
Presented by Julie Scott
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn pieces for singing, unpitched percussion, and Orff instruments. Materials will include pieces by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman and original folk song settings. The activities will be presented in sequential order of difficulty for children in grades K-6. The pieces presented will also include singing games and dances. Come prepared to join in the fun!

Julie Scott is Coordinator of Elementary Music for Richardson, Texas ISD, and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Eastman School of Music. She currently serves as Vice President of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. Julie taught elementary music in Texas schools for 17 years, was Assistant Professor of Music Education at Eastman for one year, and taught elementary music methods at Southern Methodist University for three years. She continues her work at SMU as Coordinator of Summer Music Educators Workshops, and also is Director of the Center for Contemporary Studies in music at University of North Texas. She has taught Orff Levels Training Courses to adults at five state MEAs, school districts and Orff chapters throughout the US. Julie has presented sessions internationally at conferences in Thailand and in Australia.
For many years, Julie has been a director of children's choirs, most recently as director of the Lewisville ISD 5th Grade Honor Choir, which was one of the two featured elementary choirs a the Texas Music Educators Conference in 2004. Previously, she served as the children's choir director at First United Methodist Church, Dallas, and as director of the Mesquite All-City Girls Choir. Her choirs have been featured on two recordings for Choristers Guild, and she is the author of the Early Childhood Year 3 Stepping Stones children's choir curriculum, which is published by Choristers Guild.

Chapter Sharing Session, February 9, 2008
Thank you to everyone who attended our chapter sharing session this past Saturday at Mountain View Elementary in Morgantown, WV. We had a nice turnout. Thank you to all the presenters, you all did a wonderful job. And thank you to those who brought in lessons to share. It's always good to have fresh lessons to use.
Sorry, I forgot my camera, so I have no pictures to share, but I will remember for next time! Look forward to seeing everyone again in April!

Take I-79 South toward Morgantown;
Take the I-68 exit (last Morgantown Exit. It is well marked).
Once on I-68, take Exit 1 toward Morgantown; follow Route 119 North to Greenbag Road (a left off the exit ramp).
Turn right on Greenbag Road. School is approximately 2 miles on the left. You will go through 2 traffic lights.
From the South:
